What are these eggs???

I visited a pond last weekend and saw 2 different types of egg masses. This is the first - they were floating on top of the water. The inside circle shaped eggs were white with black round centers, and the whole set was encased in an opaque white mass.

Here is the second type:

These were submerged and looked like big blobs...

Can anyone ID these? I checked some online sources and the first look like frog or salamader eggs (from online pics), but I haven't seen anything similar to the 2nd pic... though I've seen them in various states (Mass, PA, CT)... so I'm sure they're very common.

Thanks!!

I don't know, but they sure look spooky. Almost alien like.

Shasglasscrafts on Etsy just suggested salamander eggs for pic2!!

I found this a moment ago - looks like salamander, so perhaps that's what #2 are! :)

That's beyond me! I've seen other interesting ones in which the egg mass was a linear chain twisted like a telephone chord.

H - I came across those chain type ones when digging through photos online - they look interesting!! These were at Bear Meadows (I followed the path and then took a right at the first off-shoot towards the bog/pond, there's a small clearing down there). Hope to visit them again to see what happens to them!

I was thinking that the first one was frog eggs. But yeah that 2nd picture is really weird, never seen anything like that. Were they big or small?

The 2nd pic ones were about the size of my hand! I've seen them in a few other ponds in the past, but I'd never tried to find out exactly what they are... I'm hoping if I go back and look at them every so often, maybe in the later stanges I'll be able to see little baby somethings!
