Tonight I've been learning to color with GIMP! I drew this narwhal line drawing after lab meeting today, and worked with layers and the toolbar to color it in and add my painted sky (layers of my photographs) background :)
I've found a lot of places where I can improve (as you can see!), and will try again after I get the image scanned instead of photographing it (to eliminate the curvature in the 'framing' lines caused by the lens. I'm going to try again with lots more layers to make it more precise!
Are you trying new things today/this week??

Good for you for using GIMP! Don't try to let others talk you out of it --it's not perfect, but is very powerful. There are a number of decent books out on learning GIMP (I need to get one myself); if you're interested, let me know. HKB.
Nice picture! That looks like it would be fun.

Trip out!...I better get on the GIMP boat.
I've been using GIMP for awhile but didn't know it did such fun stuff!! Good to know there is a book out there to help (thanks, catharus!), too. Keep up the good work and I love your photography!!

Hi all!!! Sorry for my delinquency :)
Catharus, I'm liking gimp a lot! :) Haven't run across the books yet but I have been checking out tutorials online.
B - thanks! Needs more layers and I got lazy at the end :) Someday I'll scan the line drawing so that it doesn't have those rounded edges. I hope you and C are having lots of fun photographing with P! :)
Hiya Teri! It's fun :)
Yankeegirl - thanks very much re: photography! There's a neat tutorial I followed on anime drawing/coloring in gimp... can't remember the name of it but there are a bunch online.
